When I go into schools to lecture on portraiture I always try to get the students involved, by photographing each other. There is always a great buzz around the room, as they spread their artist wings. The results the students come up with are always great, as they put so much into it. Here is a photograph I took of one of the students, Maryam Esmaeili of St Mary’s school Cheshunt, who was a great model with stunning features. The surprise is this was taken with a Canon IXUS 970 IS compact camera by window light, with a small reflector, remember its not the camera, its who is using it.
